P24 Holiday Gear Guide (Updated with Sales)
We are officially in Holiday Season.
And, because I’m a “Gear Guy,” the Perform24 Family at the gym and the online communities on Instagram and YouTube have asked for gift recommendations.
Here are my top picks.
TriggerPoint GRID VIBE PLUS Vibrating Foam Roller
Think TheraGun meets traditional Foam Roller. This is a vibrating foam roller that adds a whole new level to your rolling routine. This will help keep your tissues and muscular system feeling fresh as you hammer away on your training. And, I’ve seen this frequently on sale on Amazon for under $60.
This is GORUCK’s easiest and most convenient rucksack. If you would like to add rucking into your training routine, pick up the Bullet Rucker. It is currently on sale for 30% off. I would also recommend picking up this 20lb Weight Plate on Amazon. If you don’t know what rucking is, check out my YouTube video on why it’s one of my favorite training modalities.
YETI Rambler 36oz with Chug Cap
I love this water bottle. It’s been my daily bottle for nearly three years. Call me high maintenance (or maybe I’m just a sweaty Floridian), but having cold water at arms reach is a must for me. 36oz is big enough that I don’t constantly need to refill it, but it’s small enough to slide in my backpack when necessary. And, the Chug Cap is Yeti’s best lid. Just trust me.
The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter is the best physically themed book I read in 2022. This book will challenge the way you think about your daily, monthly, and annual physical activity. This book is a great blend of research, history, and a personal journey by the author. I loved it.
Runner up for best physically themed book in 2022 is Breath by James Nestor.
These are my favorite training shorts by far. The waist band is excellent, the pockets zip away if I need them to, there are no flashy logos, and I wash AND dry them without worrying I’m going to wear them out. These shorts are the toughest articles of clothing I wear. And, code: LJAECKEL15 saves you 15% on any Ten Thousand order.
For the record, I also wear the Ten Thousand Interval Shorts in the summer because they are lighter.
Any time I need supplements, I’m looking to BPN. I am a big fan of their Strong Greens and Strong Reds, and I believe they have the best tasting protein powder on the market. Beyond that, they are also trailblazing a handful of sleep quality and recovery products with Peak Sleep and Strong Joints. Additionally, all their products are banned substance tested and are safe for my competitive athletes. Check out BPN.
This is for the athlete that has “everything,” or for the individual that loves a new challenge. I’ve been using a mace every day at Perform24 for over a year, and I’m constantly impressed with its’ practicality and versatility. Similar to a kettlebell, you can hold it in static positions and you can swing it in ways that no other piece of equipment can replicate. Wolf Brigade makes the best, and they’ve got excellent online resources to teach you the way. I’d recommend an 8kg for women and 10kg for men.
Magnetic Kitchen Timer (Stainless)
This may seem silly, but it’s really useful. This exact timer lives on our home gym rack, and we have a few floating around Perform24. It’s got a surprisingly strong magnet, it’s well made and won’t break, and can count up and down for all your timed exercise or interval needs.
